A helping hand from nature

Flower essences are not medication, they are not treatment, they aren’t prescribed for when you are feeling sick, they aren’t essential oils, they do not heal anxiety and they certainly do not cure depression.

They simply balance our energy from within, in order to allow us to gain clarity around the feelings and thoughts associated to what we are experiencing (depression, anxiety, overwhelm, unworthiness), so that we can process them in a safe and effective way and serve us better. They provide a helping hand for us to step into ourselves, to re-gain our sense of embodiment, to allow ourselves to FEEL without being stuck or attached to that emotion. They bring about the awareness that we have lost during our emotion-FULL state of being.

The purpose of using flower essences is to assist in clearing the emotional blocks which stop us from connecting with our true selves. They allow us to shift the emotional imbalances and react with clarity, and become present and aligned within our bodies.

Flower essences are not something new. Australian Aborigines have been using them for thousands of years to bring about emotional balance, as did the ancient Egyptians. So what you are FEELING right now, was experienced even during the earliest of times. Humans were still FEELING, and they sought therapies to balance their emotions. They wanted harmony between their emotional, spiritual and mental states. Instead of turning to anti-depressants or medications to dull pain and emotions like we do now, our Ancestors experimented with plants. They had no choice. They had no easy way out. And now, we have had all the hard work done for us. Nature has provided everything that we need in order to deal with what we have, right in this moment. The flowers provide us with the ability to move through our feelings instead of resisting, denying, and packing them away for a time where they brew and are released ten-fold.

I was first introduced to flower essences many years ago during my first year of uni. I was at my wits-end trying to navigate my way through a science degree, feeling lost, overwhelmed and alone. I purchased my first few bottles and would create blends based on how I was feeling at that moment. I used them every morning before leaving my house, on every break, before every lecture, before every cram session, before I would meet with friends, and most importantly, every time I entered into a whirlwind of ‘flat-spinning’. That feeling where you feel paralysed from your thoughts and emotions.

I used to do it in secret though. I was worried that people would think it was all ‘woo-woo’ and ‘airy-fairy’, especially when I was studying and praising to the science gods! And yes. It certainly is, but now I don’t mind what people think because the results by-far outweigh the judgements.

Every time I I dived into essences and allowed myself to move through my stuck emotions, I was able to come out the other side with clarity. It provided space for me to FEEL the emotions, without getting stuck in the shame game, ‘why do I feel like this’, ‘I shouldn’t feel like this’, ‘why can’t I stop thinking about this’, ‘what is wrong with me’. It assisted me to get to the point of ‘ok, this is how it is now', instead of sitting in this feeling of overwhelm, acknowledge that it is here for a reason, allow it to move though me for a moment, feel all the feels, and then move on. It’s like a warm hug from your mum in the form of meditation.

Soon enough, my sister began her journey into flower essences. She would ask me to create some drops for her for times when she was feeling anxious. She then began giving them to her children, to assist with bed time wind down, tantrums, and anxious interaction with pre-school and other children.

I soon had a plethora of flower essences which I was creating and gifting to friends and clients based on their individual emotional blockages. The thing that I have come to learn during my practise is that our state of health is directly correlated with what is going on in our minds and with the emotions we attach ourselves to. There is no easy or simple way to put it. If we aren’t on top of our mental shit, our health will suffer as a result; which is why I am so passionate about creating this connection and helping people to make that shift.

We are constantly battling the feelings of not being enough, constantly struggling to do it all, excel in work, look after a family, be a loving and present partner, maintain a social life, exercise, drink enough water, text people back, stay sane, be happy - yet all we need to do is release the inner battle, release the need to be enough, release the emotional blockages and everything else will fall into place.

So that is why I felt so drawn to create each of these blends. Each formula has been carefully created over my many years of studying the connection between our emotions and our health. They have been trialed and tested over and over again through my own personal trauma and life events, and through the events of my family, friends and client experiences, over the last 6 and half years. I have created each with the intention and love that I use for myself, and for the most important people in my life, and now I am so proud to share them with you!
